Friendly management and attentive. Lovely place to stay and very comfortable rooms, elegantly decorated. Breakfast was really nice with lots of options available. Great sea view and location is great. The only thing to make stay better would have been a bottle of water in the room. Would definitely stay again.

Tips:

There are a few nice restaurants in Seaford and lots to do in surrounding areas. Beautiful countryside as well as nice coastal walks.

The Buckle is certainly one of the best bed and breakfasts we have ever stayed in. The rooms and facilities in the rooms are comparable to a top class hotel and nothing has been left to chance . Jason and Jackie and other family members are perfect hosts and we would recommend the house to others .

Tips:

Our stay was on a Sunday and Monday evenings so please plan where you intend to eat. The local pub within walking distance serves very good 'pub' food even on a Sunday evening . There are some good quality restaurants in Seaford but most are not open Sunday and Monday evenings . Seaford is a very homely seaside town with a fantastic marine front and at the opposite end of town there is beachhead head park

Have stayed in lots of hotels and B&Bs over the years, and this is one of the best. What a wonderful place, absolutely can't fault it. Stayed on my own as needed a few days by the sea, and was so glad I chose The Buckle! I felt totally safe and relaxed during my stay. Stayed in the Horizon, and was lucky with the weather so sat out on the balcony watching the sun set every evening. I don't normally have a cooked breakfast but was so glad I did. They were freshly cooked by the lovely Helen, who was so helpful about the local area.

The Buckle is in a fantastic situation. The staff are attentive and very welcoming. The cleanliness is excellent and the breakfast was as good as a home cooked one. We loved our stay here and will be back even though we live in Seaford.

Tips:

The Buckle is about a 10-15 minute walk into Seaford where there are many pubs and restaurants to choose from. There is also a great bus service so you can easily visit Brighton, Eastbourne or Cuxkmere. If you have a car, Alfriston is a lovely village for afternoon tea and walks.

Very helpful hosts. Wonderful room - both furnishings, cleanliness and view - lots of unexpected thoughtful extras e.g. dvd selection, honesty bar, speciality biscuits. Great breakfast with lots of choice.

Tips:

We found the Old Plough Inn very good for evening meal - the tripadvisor reviews are not great but we overheard they have a new chef - lots of choice, very fresh produce and amazingly quick service - the beer is good too!

As explained in the TripAdvisor review the experience at The Buckle was excellent and thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. Beautiful clean and tasteful room with an excellent view. Jason and Helen were very professional and very knowledgeable of the surrounding area. Breakfast was very good!

Tips:

The train from the local station (Bishopstone) to Brighton runs twice an hour, takes 30 minutes and cost £5 return. Good location to visit surrounding towns such as Eastbourne, Hastings and Bexhill-on-Sea etc.

The Buckle was an incredible place to stay and a great overall experience. We stayed for two nights in the Captains’s Quarters room. The view is amazing! Very nice room, living area and bathroom. We loved the breakfast each morning and would highly recommend The Buckle to anyone looking for a place in Seaford or near the Seven Sisters and areas around it. We hope to be back someday!

We stayed at the Buckle for a couple of nights to celebrate my wife's birthday. I chose Horizon and the room lives up to its name, really ample proportions, a vast bathroom, lots of storage and a wonderful view from the balcony which encompasses Newhaven harbour and beyond to the west and the Seven Sisters to the east. The staff were welcoming and knowledgeable about their town and the surrounding areas. To sum up, one word, excellent!

Tips:

We can recommend the walk down to Cuckmere Haven, the view across the coast guard cottages, as seen on TV, was one of the reasons why we chose the area. Oddly enough another film was being shot at the time we were there which added to the intrigue of the area. Foodwise, we can recommend the Old Plough for dinner and Harri Nats for a light lunch.

we took the train from Newhaven after visiting the Fort for an evening in Seaford then walked back along the beach - the hole in the wall pub on the towns historic buildings board does not exist tho! we walked round looking for it and found that it's not been around for a while so please ignore the recommendation! there are plenty of other places to eat tho and we had a lovely evening

Fabulous hosts who were very personable and helpful with good local knowledge and recommendations. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere at breakfast time with Jason and Julie.

Tips:

Oliver’s restaurant was amazing with delicious food. Excellent menu choices and a good price too. We also enjoyed a fish supper at the Trawler restaurant. The Wellington Pub is welcoming with a good selection of craft beers. The area lends itself for picturesque walks and the town has some interesting independent shops.

18th August 2018:

My sister and I stayed in the Horizon room, which without doubt is the cleanest and most comfortable B&B room I have stayed in. Every tiny detail from earplugs, fresh local produce, amazing views, supreme bedding, and a beautifully spacious room made for a really memorable stay. Julie and Jason are genuinely so enthusiastic about what they do. We loved everything about this perfect gem. The only footnote is that the rooms are on the top floor so there are three flights of stairs to climb....not a place for anyone who can’t manage that. Otherwise all I can say is get on down there and appreciate a mighty special place.

Tips:

Seaford is a small town with a typically English seaside feel to it. There are a good selection of places to eat. You can have a great walk along the front, and watch the kite durfers and fishermen. It has a large and clean beach. The train to Brighton was a bargain at £5.00 return, and a twenty five minute journey which meant you could have a busy cosmopolitan day, shop, eat, drink and then return to a luxurious B&B

Very friendly and welcoming hosts who have thought of all the small touches a guest would want. A fantastic location with superb accommodation. A real luxury.

Tips:

The Seven Sisters Country Park is closeby with great views and scenic walks. The town of Seaford has everything you need with friendly people and great restaurants (The Grumpy Chef is fantastic and try the tapas at The Front Room). The beach isn’t overcrowded with plenty of room for everyone. Overall a wonderful place to visit with a warm welcome and slower pace of life. Perfect for a relaxing break.

Absolutely stunning boutique B&B. Rooms have everything you need and furnished to a very high standard. A very relaxing and peaceful location, and lovely hosts. We had a fabulous time and will definitely return.

Tips:

Town isn’t far and an enjoyable walk along the seafront. Plenty of pubs that serve nice food. We wanted to go to Oliver’s Restaurant, but unfortunately it was closed the day we wanted to book so didn’t get to try it, but it came very highly recommended. We did eat at the Wellington which gave good food and good service.

As you know we had a great time staying at the Buckle and will certainly return. There are just a couple of points we think may be helpful to you. The room refresh didn’t seem to include a wipe round of the en suite which was slightly disappointing and also for guests staying longer than two nights a towel change at some stage would have been welcome. Apart from that everything was faultless. You’ve certainly got a winning formula at the Buckle.

Tips:

Ask Helen, she’s a font of knowledge about everything in the area including where to eat, where to visit and very importantly where to park for free. We enjoyed Alfriston, Burling Gap and Sovereign Harbour. A bit further afield but well worth the trip is Arundel Castle.

Thank you for a wonderful stay we loved the Horizon room and were made to feel at home from the moment we arrived. The view from the balcony was stunning and we enjoyed watching the world go by and the kite surfers racing past. Breakfast was excellent and cooked to perfection and only a few steps away from our lovely room. Jason & Julie were a mine of information on the local and surrounding area and we look forward to returning in the near future.

Tips:

We loved Oliver’s restaurant in Seaford and look forward to returning for another excellent meal there. Steve the owner is a great guy and makes the whole experience special. Also we loved the Grumpy Chef which totally surprised us, great menu, lovely staff and service and superb food, great. We walked to the Cuckmere inn via the cliffs and along the river which was very picturesque with a great view of the Seven Sisters.

We saw the B&B on the C4 programme 4 in a Bed and thought the Captain's Quarters looked wonderful so we were delighted when we managed to book it. I thought the price of £180 was a little steep until we arrived and saw what we got for our money. The view from the bedroom was worth £180 alone never mind anything else with its location literally a stones throw from the sea. The welcome from Jason was so friendly; taking time out to explain everything to us. His wife Julie was equally as friendly too when we met her at breakfast (which was very tasty indeed - great selection). Without any hesitation we would definitely book again but next time we would like to stay for more than just one night

Tips:

Jason and Julie gave us a list of their recommendations for eating out when our booking was confirmed. Only staying one night, we only had the opportunity to try one of these - The Moon of India - and it did not disappoint. Fantastic food, super friendly staff and no large bill afterwards. I would definitely recommend this. Others staying spoke at breakfast about how their other recommendations were as equally pleasing. Jason and Julie's recommendations should certainly be taken on board if you are staying in the area.

I would definitely recommend staying at The Buckle Seaford.

Tips:

Having seen The Buckle in Four in a Bed we immediately booked a 3 night stay. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by Jason who instantly picked up and carried our suitcase to our room. We were in Horizon and it certainly had the 'Wow' factor. The room is huge as is the bathroom. It was spotlessly clean and the balcony is a generous size complete with sofas. We met Julie & Helen and along with Jason are all very friendly and make you feel welcome. Two very small points, we prefer bath sheets as so much nicer to wrap around. Secondly it would be nice to have the biscuits replenished each day, When you return after a day out and put the kettle on it's nice to have them. They don't need to be the delightful personalised ones that were there on arrival but at the price of the room we would expect something. The breakfast room is delightful, very bright, fresh and guests can help themselves to fresh milk from the fridge when making a drink in their room. Jason, Julie & Helen have taken on a big project. They have renovated rooms to a very high standard. They were very welcoming and deserve the award from Four in a Bed and we wish them every success.

Everything about the accommodation is outstanding. I meant to mention at the time that the room was a little chilly in the evenings (my fault for not saying anything) but that didn't spoil our stay. The breakfast is excellent and the choice good. Slight downside is the two flights of stairs but cant be helped. Overall, possibly one of the better b&b's we've stayed in.

Tips:

We visited the Brighton Pavillion and the Brighton theatre - both excellent. The drive around Seven Sisters is beautiful. But first you've got to persuade yourself to leave the lovely room with it's staggering sea views.

Loved the room and view. Excellent breakfast. Very friendly service. Helen's advice about local things to do was perfect. Absolutely perfect two nights. We will love to return.

Tips:

Interesting walk along the seafront to a deserted village and mills. Good information plaques about the history of "Tide mills" On Helens advice after a visit to Newhaven Fort we had a drink in a pub nearby. upstairs overlooking the mouth of the harbour.

11th April 2018:

My husband and I booked the Horizon room for our wedding anniversary. From start to finish, the whole experience was amazing. Jason and the team are very attentive without being intrusive. The room had everything and more we could've asked for. The added extras like the Amazon Alexa and Philips Hue lighting were great. All of the facilities were of the highest quality. Breakfast both mornings was fantastic and all locally sourced products. There's even a licenced bar within the premises. Everything about this trip was perfect for us. We will be back!

Tips:

Old Plough pub in Seaford. Bishopstone station less than a 5 minute walk where you can get the train to Brighton for £5 return. Was told the Moon of India is a great place to eat but we went to the Old Plough both evenings.

9th April 2018:

More than lived up to expectations. Hosts - lovely. Very welcoming. The house - super cosy luxury. Loved the breakfast room with the little guests' kitchen and bar. Breakfast - local produce is very good. Beautifully cooked. View - the sea never goes away. A dramatic sight is the lit-up late night ferry setting out for France from Newhaven port.

Tips:

See what's on at the Seaford Community Cinema at the Barn Theatre. Within 20 minutes are the handsome town of Lewes and its castle, Charleston Farmhouse (the Bloomsbury Group's country retreat), Virginia Wolf's home, Monk's House, and Alfriston Clergy House (National Trust) - all have blissful gardens. Choosing whether to linger longer among the daffodils or return for a G&T (Sussex-distilled gin and Sussex tonic) on our private Buckle terrace was a tough decision; We ate at Gino's Italian and Moon of India in Seaford... walking the mile into town along the seafront and hopping on the train to return home. The Buckle is close to Bishopstone Station, one stop out of Seaford. If not warm enough for sea bathing, Seaford has a great little indoor swimming. pool.

Luxurious accommodation finished to a very high specification, additional unexpected touches such as Alexa, i-pad, DVDs and honesty bar, tasty breakfast served at times to suit us, amazing views out to sea from our balcony, easy booking and paying system and above all excellent, attentive and very welcoming hosts. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay.

Tips:

Brilliant location to explore the local area with the train station less than 5 minutes walk away. Lewes well worth a visit and Seven Sisters Country Park. Alfriston is a delightful village only a few minutes drive away. It’s easy to get into Brighton too. Jason, Julie and Helen have excellent local knowledge including the restaurants.

Everything about this B&B is first class excellence! We stayed in the Captains Quarters for 2 nights and the views are truly magnificent. The bed was so comfy we didn't want to get out of it! Jason & Julie are great hosts & very attentive. Breakfast was delicious with plenty to choose from. We will definitely return later in the year

Tips:

We went to The Moon of India in Seaford town for a meal which Jason & Julie recommended & we were not disappointed as the food was very good. Beachy Head & The Seven Sisters are a must to visit as views are awesome.

Beautifully presented, cool contemporary decor, generous bathroom with walk-in shower. Warm and friendly welcome with plenty of helpful advice on where to go and what the local history is in the area. Excellent breakfast with a wide variety of options, all locally sourced, taken at a leisurely pace in a light-filled, sea -facing dining room.An 'honesty bar' facility operates where friut juices, beer, wine and snacks are provided should you want it.

Tips:

We visited 'The Grumpy Chef' restaurant twice during our stay and found it excellent. Walks abound in the area, either into Newhaven via the counry park, or into Seaford itself along the promenade. Train and buses to Lewes, Brighton and Eastbourne operate on a regular basis. OR just sit and watch the world go by from the balcony, and enjoy.

A lovely place to stay for a relaxing break. The room was beautifully furnished with a luxurious feel to it. Added extras like robes and slippers were a bonus. The view of the sea from the room made this very special. Breakfast was delicious with good quality produce. The hosts were lovely and helpful.

Tips:

Seaford is a small quiet place with a few good restaurants. It is great for walks along the pebbly beach. There is a train station only a few minutes walk from the Buckle where you can get the train to many other south coast towns including Lewes and Brighton, which takes about half an hour.

Just opened this year and very willing to hear suggestions, extremely friendly and helpful. Stunning sea views, and smart decor, delicious breakfast.

Tips:

Five minutes from Bishopstone Station. About a 25 minute walk into town - but seafront all the way. Tried The Grumpy Chef, brilliant cook and very happy to adapt menus, also open on a Sunday. Also The Front Room, friendly Tapas bar after 6.30 or all day coffee and cakes. The famous walk towards Seven Sisters easily in reach, and possibility of a bus back!

Loved the location, shame about the weather. Clean and friendly, lovely nights sleep, beds were superb for comfort, (premier inn eat your heart out). Little tip... milk and yoghurts at breakfast were either fat free or half fat. We like our fats and some fats are good for you. If you like a location for running and cycling etc you can't go wrong here.

Tips:

Sorry only one nights stay so not much to comment on. However our stay was on a Sunday and very little choice for eating as some don't open and others close early. Time of year probably didn't help...

A wonderful place to stay. With amazing views to the sea. The hosts Jason and Julie made us feel right at home, even before we arrived. Fantastic communication leading up to the stay, and really welcoming. Making sure we had all we needed to make the stay perfect. Fabulously delicious breakfast, cooked to perfection. Beautifully and newly renovated, the rooms are super clean and comfortable. With incredible views and light.. Congratulations to the hosts, they have done an amazing job. I would recommend the Buckle and their friendly hosts whole heartedly.

Tips:

The Buckle is literally just across from the beach, making it easy to tap a dip or a stroll along the sea front. It's a great starting point too for the Seven Sisters walk from Seaford to Eastbourne.
